The Tri-City Dust Devils dropped their first ever game in Hillsboro, losing to the Hops 3-2 on Thursday night. The Dust Devils had seven hits and earned seven walks, but left 10 runners stranded and hit just 1-11 as a team with men in scoring position. Both of Tri-City's runs came in the fifth inning, when both Michael Benjamin and Pat Valaika had sacrifice flies to score the team's only runs.
The Dust Devils continue the five-game series with the Hops on Friday night. Left-hander Jonathan Vargas will make his fourth start of the season for the Dust Devils. Hillsboro will counter with right-hander Ben Eckels.
