Tri-Cities Ovarian Cancer Support Group Plans to Light Up the Cable Bridge with Teal Lights

KENNEWICK, Wash.-  A Tri-Cities support group for ovarian cancer survivors plans to raise awareness by lighting up the Cable Bridge with teal lights!

The group, Ovarian Cancer Together, came up with the bright idea.

Their biggest hurdle was to raise the $5,000 to make it happen.

Local donations came through, but it was a big donation from Hapo Credit Union that will light up the bridge.

President of the Tri-Cities Ovarian Cancer Together group, Kay Kerbyson says something like this has never been done before in the state of Washington.

"It's going to be what I call Cheers and Tears because not only are we going to celebrate the switching on of the bridge and survivors in the city, but we're also going to be paying honor to the wonderful ladies that we lost to ovarian cancer," said Kerbyson.

The Cable Bridge will light up Thursday, August 29th and will remain teal through September, which is National Ovarian Cancer month.

If you'd like to have a relative remembered for battling ovarian cancer at the switching on ceremony, Kerbyson says to contact them through their website here.
