Wind Driven Fire Destroys Kennewick Home

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Firefighters said the wind helped spread a fire that completely engulfed a Kennewick home Saturday night.

The Kennewick Fire Department said the first call came in about 8:00 p.m. about a house fire on the 1900 block of W. 43rd Avenue. When crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

One man was able to make it out safely with a dog, as well.

Investigators were on the scene late into the evening but first believed the fire started on the outside of the house. The wind appears to have caused it to quickly spread. The blaze was under control within a half hour but the home is considered a total loss.
