PENDLETON, Ore. - Pendleton police have identified the man wanted for questioning about Friday night's assault of Karen Lange, 53, along the Umatilla River walkway.

Officers say Danny Wu, 23, is an Asian transient who has lived in the Pendleton area for one year. His name is unconfirmed because he doesn't have valid Oregon identification, but police are certain he is their target.

Wu is 5'07", 180 lbs., with brown hair, and brown eyes. He has "Semper Fi" tattooed on the inside of his left forearm. He was last seen wearing khaki shorts and a dark brown or black t-shirt.

Officers say Lange went for a walk along the parkway around 6 p.m. and was reported missing five hours later.

Police later found Lange along the Umatilla River levee near Bob White field around 7:00 a.m. Saturday. They say she was hit by a blunt object on the back of the head. An air ambulance life-flighted the victim to the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland where was listed in stable but critical condition as of Sunday.
