Rescue Crews Find Body of Missing Pendleton Fisherman

PENDLETON, Ore. - Rescue crews have found the body of a missing Pendleton fisherman.

Crews found Matt Richter's body around 2 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators say Richter was fishing at the McKay Reservoir Sunday when another man heard his engine rev up and saw the boat moving in circles.

The man called 911 and search and rescue teams began searching for Richter on shore and in the water.

PENDLETON, Ore. - Rescue crews are continuing to search for a boater who went missing Sunday at McKay Reservoir near Pendleton.

The East Oregonian reports Matt Richter of Pendleton left around 4 a.m. to fish at the reservoir six miles south of Pendleton on Highway 395. Later that morning, Rowan said, another man and his son saw Richter in his boat near the northeast corner of McKay. At about 7:30 a.m. they heard the engine rev up and soon saw the 14-foot long aluminum boat moving in circles on the west side of the reservoir.

Umatilla County Sheriff's deputies say the man called 911 and search and rescue teams began searching the area for any sign of Richter on shore and in the water.
