Richland Camp Offers Behind The Scenes Look at Theatre Productions

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - When many think of theater, they may think of what happens on the stage.
But a children's camp at The Academy of Children's Theatre in Richland is offering kids a look into what happens behind the scenes.

The week long Techie Crash Course focuses on lighting, costume making, set design, and prop building.

Organizers say they want to teach the kids that everyone plays a key role in a theatre production.

"The cool part about this class is they're learning what a techie is and then they're putting all the stuff that they're learning into action by doing all the tech for suessical," said Techie Crash Course Instructor, Cydney Thompson.

This is the first Techie Crash Course that ACT has offered.

They hope it will expand the children's interest in the technical aspect of their productions. The kids are preparing for the opening night of their new show this weekend.
