Kids in West Pasco Celebrate their Summer Reading Goals

WEST PASCO, Wash. - Kids spent the summer diving into books as part of the Mid-Columbia Libraries' Summer Reading Program and a chance to win some bike wheels.

On Monday kids at the West Pasco Library branch celebrated their success of reaching their 15 hour reading goal with games and give-aways.

Participating kids were entered into a raffle, with the biggest prize being a bike donated by the Masonic Lodge 173. Other prizes included books and candy.

"I'm very, very excited to be a part of this program because it does keep the kids reading and it's really exciting to see them learn how to read, their reaction from programs and their happy faces when they get the prizes," said Mona Gonzalez with Mid-Columbia Libraries.

On Tuesday the Mid-Columbia Libraries' with celebrate their summer reading finisher at the Keewaydin Park branch.

Pasco and Kennewick branches will hold their finisher parties on Friday.
