Car Crash Causes Closure on 4th Ave in Kennewick

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick Police have closed 4th Avenue between South Green Street and Conway Place because of car crash.

Police say a 16-year-old driving a Nissan Altima veered up the curb just before the 395 overpass and struck a light pole. Officers say the car moved the pole about 15 feet, where it's now blocking the roadway.

Police say the girl and her passenger, her 4-year-old nephew, were both wearing their seat belts and didn't get hurt.  Officers cited the girl with a $124 ticket because the child wasn't in an approved car seat.

Crews are arriving on scene to make sure the power is off before they move anything. No word yet on when the roadway will reopen.
