Kennewick Day Shelter Moves to New Location

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A Kennewick day shelter has moved into a new and more spacious location.

The Ken and Teresa's Day Center is a place for homeless people to find the help and the daily comforts they need to get back on their feet.

Now the shelter has a new place to call home.

The day shelter recently moved into a building on West Bruneau Place.

The new location doubles their space to provide support classes, food service and activities.

The shelter received a grant from the county to support their transitional housing program.

Their assistance programs are possible through the day center and administrators say the new space allows them to better help others.

"It gave us more room for expansion to be able to do housing and more things that represents our clients needs. If they say Steve, can we try to do this, can we try to do this, this location allows us to do that for them," said Steve Gaulke, Exec. Director of Ken and Teresa's Day Center.

The new shelter doesn't have showers yet, like their old location, because they need some more financial support.

They are also working on developing an overnight winter shelter before the colder months arrive.

If you'd like to help, you can call the shelter at (5090) 222-1030.
