Olson to SWX: We Want to Play Arizona Again

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Three days after a disappointing playoff loss to the Arizona Rattlers, Spokane Shock head coach Andy Olson told SWX on Tuesday that the defeat still stings.

"It's going to sit with all of us for awhile," Olson said during an interview for "Shock Talk Powered by VPI Home Solutions. "Sunday was a long trip home.  It burns."

But Olson added that his team was already focused on payback just moments after that 65-57 loss in Saturday's National Conference Championship.

"A couple of guys said we need to make sure this team stays togethers and comes back next season.  They're already looking forward to the future.  That was a good thing to hear from some of our guys."

According to Olson, the Shock have about 75% of their roster locked up, under contract for the 2014 season.  Most of the players are on multi-year contracts, with several others like quarterback Erik Meyer and linebacker Beau Bell soon to hit the open market after playing out one-year deals.

"It all starts at the quarterback position," said Olson. "Luckily, all of the guys like each other a lot, so we're hoping that plays into it.  We definitely want Erik back.  Erik is likely to be the league MVP at the end of this week.  He's a huge reason why we won fifteen games this season."

With Meyer and Bell as the only question marks, Olson believes there is a good window for the Shock to contend for multiple championships.

"Absolutely.  We feel very good out this football team and the direction this organization is going."
