LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 13) – The Central Washington University volleyball team will head into the 2013 season picked as one of the nation's best, as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has ranked the Wildcats 24th in its Division II preseason poll, released Tuesday.

"It's an honor to be recognized before the season starts and for the expectations to be high for our program, but our focus has to be on what we accomplish each day to keep things in perspective," CWU head coach Mario Andaya explained. "It will be an on-going process this whole season, and we look forward to the challenges ahead."

The Wildcats' 2013 schedule features seven teams that made the AVCA preseason poll, including four of the nation's top 25 in the first two weeks of the season.

The Wildcats return six starters from a 2012 squad that posted a 21-8 record and qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament. CWU will begin its 2013 campaign at the Coyote Classic in San Bernardino, Calif., on Sept. 6, with the team's home opener slated for Sept. 26 against the University of Alaska Anchorage.
