City Launches New "Trek Yakima" Website and Mobile App

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The city of Yakima's new Trek Yakima website and mobile app promises to help people find local walking paths and other recreational opportunities.

You can browse through a list of trails around Yakima or use a map to scout out interesting paths.

People can even use GPS on their phone to find nearby trails.

It's part of a push by the city to spotlight the variety of activities available in Yakima.

"We know we have people coming to town to take advantage of our great weather and our great recreational opportunity, so this just provides everyone with the opportunity to say 'You know, I'm looking for this parking lot so I can hike this area,'" said Yakima Parks and Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson.

The app was entirely built by a Yakima city employee.

It's free to download.

If you'd like to learn more you can visit the Trek Yakima website, here.

WASHINGTON: It's barely pumpkin latte season and already signs are up advertising *flu* shots! One vaccine that's been off the market for a couple years is back this year. Two years ago the nasal spray vaccine was taken off the market because the Center for Disease Control said it was no longer effective for that particular flu season.
