KENNEWICK, Wash. - Firefighters throughout the region are kicking off their annual Fill-the-Boot fundraiser this weekend.
Every year, firefighters spend the day standing in the streets, accepting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Saturday, August 17th, Pasco Firefighters will fill the boot at the corner of Wrigley Drive and Road 68.
Yakima and Union Gap Firefighters will also set up on the 17th at South First and Main Street in Union Gap.
Firefighters in Southeastern Washington bring in thousands of dollars every year, for the MDA. They say it's a fun event, and a great cause to support.
"They're doing a lot of research into the cure for these diseases, and every dollar helps," said Kelly Williamson of the Kennewick Fire Department. "And not only that, it sends kids to camp, it buys them flu shots, pays for their wheel chair repairs, so the money that we raise locally stays locally."
Richland Firefighters will fill the boot next Saturday, August 24th, at George Washington Way and Swift Boulevard in Richland.
Kennewick Firefighters will set up the following Saturday, August 31st, at Clearwater Avenue and Morain in Kennewick.
