Long-Ball Lifts Indians to 6th Win in a Row

By the Spokane Indians

Spokane, WA - Joe Jackson didn't wait long to let 6,406 fans to know that the Spokane Indians were back in town after 12 days, as the catcher launched a three-run home run to right field in the first inning to help defeat the Hillsboro Hops 5-1 on Fireworks Night presented Inland Empire Toyota, The Big 99.9 Coyote Country and KXLY NewsRadio 920.

Jackson wasn't the only Indians player to knock one out of Avista Stadium. In the second inning, in his second at bat, second baseman Evan Van Hoosier hit a two-run shot of his own to push Spokane's lead to 5-0.

Collin Wiles earned his second win of the season after the 2012 first-round draft pick dealt six innings of one-run ball. Wiles only allowed four hits and a walk before being relieved by Travis Dean in the seventh inning. Dean tossed two scoreless innings as Keone Kela came on in the ninth inning for the save.

Third baseman Cam Schiller added three hits and DH Marcus Greene added a double for the Indians.

Saturday, August 17th, will be the second Fireworks Night presented by Inland Empire Toyota, KAYU FOX 28, 103.9 BOB FM, 790 KJRB and The Current.
