15-Year-Old Prosser Girl Killed in Oregon Crash

UPDATE: 15-year-old Yasmin Esmeralda Rivera died after she was thrown from a car yesterday on Highway 97.

Investigators said she was not wearing a seat belt, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Six other people were treated for minor injuries in the crash.

Investigators said fatigue might be the cause of the accident.


CHILOQUIN, Ore. - Oregon State Police are investigating a crash that happened in southern Oregon on Saturday morning. A 15-year-old girl from Prosser was not wearing a seatbelt when the SUV she was in overturned along Highway 97 near Chiloquin. The girl was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. 

Six others in the Jeep Cherokee, driven by 44-year-old Olga Rivera-Chavez, of Sunnyside, were treated for minor injuries. Three of those passengers were small children.
