KENNEWICK, Wash.- The Benton-Franklin Fair and Rodeo is now underway and it began with the Rodeo Run Saturday morning on Clover Island.
The 5K fun run supports the free mammogram program at Lourdes Health Network. Runners could play quick games like horseshoes along the course, which looped back around to Clover Island where a pancake breakfast was waiting. Cancer survivors who ran the 5K told NBC Right Now that the show of any support means a lot.
"Cancer in general is a disease that you need a lot of support," said Linda Fowler, a cancer survivor and self-proclaimed "thriver". "Community, family support, friend support and any kind of support are just awesome."
Participants in the Rodeo Run received a complimentary ticket to the fair.
