Indians Drop Back to Back to Hops

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. – For the second night in a row, Hillsboro had Spokane’s number, as the Hops topped the Indians 5-1 on Sunday.

Brian Billigen got the Hops offense started with a homerun in the first inning. That was the only mistake Spokane starter Kelvin Vasquez made as he pitched six strong innings, surrendering just a run with 7 k’s.

Spokane’s Barrett Serrato drove in the only run of the game for Spokane, an RBI single in the 2nd inning that scored Jordan Akins.

The game stayed tied until the 8th inning when Hillsboro’s George Roberts was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Hops a 2-1 lead. Hillsboro added three more insurance in the 9th to take a commanding lead that held up in the end

The Spokane loss coupled with an Everett win now gives the Indians just a one game lead in the north division.

The Hops and Indians continue their series Monday night at 6:35 PM.
