BFT Buses Could Roll on Sundays

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- City buses could roll on Sundays in the Tri-Cities this fall.

Ben Franklin Transit Tuesday holds a public hearing on possibly restoring Sunday bus service through Tri City Taxi.

BFT dropped Sunday service several years ago when budgets got tight, but with sales tax revenue increasing, BFT spokeswoman Christy Watts says the top priority is to put service back on the street.

"We've got such demand for it, people wanting to go to church, people working on Sunday,"Watts says.

Sunday service would run from eight a.m. to six p.m.

The board of directors is also considering expanding night bus service from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Currently night service runs from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

BFT is also looking at adding routes in East Kennewick and East Pasco.

The public hearing starts 2 p.m. Tuesday at the transit center on Okanogan Place in Kennewick, across the street from the Benton County Justice Center.
