Back to School Backpacks for Salvation Army Kids

PASCO, Wash. -The Salvation Army has chipped in to help children get ready for school.

Workers Wednesday handed out back to school supplies to 100 children in the Tri-Cities, about 30 more students than last year, according to Ana Avila, manager at the Pasco social services building.

She says because of the amount of donations, the Salvation Army could include new backpacks with those school supplies.

"We're very appreciative of the community this year. They were able to donate backpacks for all the 100 children we signed up, which is great," Avila says. "We're very humbled by the experience."

Avila says the Salvation Army worked with school districts to provide supplies that match classroom requirements.
