Local Disc Golf Competitor Competes in World Championships

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A local disc golf competitor recently returned from the PDGA World Championships in Indiana.

Alison Blakeman has been competing in the sport for about eight years. The 28-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder from a fall only a few days into the competition, but still managed to place 9th in the mixed doubles event, along with her partner, Matt Orum.

Blakeman says her injury didn't stop her from sharing her passion for disc golf with her fellow competitors from around the world.

"I think I did, I was a good sport and everybody appreciated what I did and so I think I definitely made my mark and funnest wins so I definitely won," Blakeman said.

Blakeman's next competition is next month in Spokane and she's hoping her arm will feel better by then. For now, she continues to train for next year's world championships, which will be held in Portland.
