TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- Day one is done for local high school football practice. Teams across the region are preparing for the fall. Many of them have two-a-days. Football takes year-round training, but now is the time for student-athletes to prove where they belong for the upcoming season. Players and coaches say after all the work over the summer, they are glad to finally be back on the field.

"It's a thrilling experience, can't wait. It's my senior year obviously. Looking forward to a good year and playing with my friends and hopefully going on to play some higher level of football," Southridge senior running back and linebacker said.

"It's great to be back out here. That's all we were in the weight room for was to be back out here. Building up the strength, doing all the conditioning. It's all for out here, it's all for our first game in 16 days," Kennewick senior guard and defensive end added.

"They're pumped, they're ready to go. I know the coaches are ready to go so it's here finally and I'm sure everybody's excited to go," Kamiakin head coach Scott Biglin stated.
