KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - A fire burning along the Manastash Ridge in Kittitas County is growing.

By Thursday night, the fire was burning 700 acres, just south of Shoestring Lake.

About 70 firefighters are now battling the blaze that was sparked by lightning on Monday, August 19th.

Smoke from the fire can be seen from Cle Elum, Ellensburg and Naches.

There is no containment yet on the fire.

Both the Cle Elum and the Naches Ranger Districts plan to issue area closures near the fire for public and firefighter safety. At this time the public is advised to stay out of the Manastash recreational area.
