Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A man is in the Benton County Jail after police say he tried to rob a man while they were driving in a truck.

Kennewick Police say 26-year-old Andre Tarrell Jackson acted as if he had a gun, and tried to take Hydrocodone from the driver of a pick-up truck.

The driver told police Jackson pulled on the truck's steering wheel and caused it to crash off SR 395. Officers say Jackson ran off before they arrived on scene, but a Benton County Sheriff Deputy tracked him down.

Police say Jackson is a convicted felon. Officers say they found a .22 caliber pistol in his backpack, as well as three baggies of meth.  Police arrested and booked him for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and attempted robbery.
