Sitting Tall in the Saddle at the Rascal Rodeo

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Special needs kids saddled-up Friday for the Rascal Rodeo at the Benton Franklin County fair.

More than 60 children rode pretend bulls, lassoed hay-made doggies, and rode high in the saddle in the fairgrounds rodeo arena.

Ann-Erica Whitemarsh started the rascal rodeo in 2001 as her senior project at Pasco High School.

"To see them out here having fun. It's usually hard to keep a dry eye," Whitemarsh says. "We have parents and caretakers who are crying and can't believe what their participants just did. It's a lot of fun."

Whitemarsh this year will holds seven special needs kids rodeos throughout Washington and Oregon.
