Welcome Home Event in Richland Brings Together Resources for Vets

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - Health care, benefits and job searching are just some of the issues veterans deal with on a different scale than the average citizen.

Friday's second annual 'Welcome Home Event' for all Walla Walla VA members and their families brought dozens of resources together to help veterans figure all of that out in one place.

The Walla Walla VA office organized the get together at Columbia Point Park in Richland to offer extra support for local vets.

"There are so many more resources out there for veterans so we want to companion with all the communities we serve and make sure the veterans know there are other resources out there that they can take advantage of," said Vietnam Veteran and Walla Walla VA staff member Larry Werst.

The event also offered live music and a barbecue lunch.
