Kettle Falls Man Taken Into Custody Following Shooting

Posted: Updated:

A 66-year-old Kettle Falls man was taken into custody and booked into the Stevens County Jail on a 2nd Degree Murder charge after shooting and killing a man.

Stevens County Deputies say they were called to a home south of Kettle Falls just after 9:00pm after a man called 911 and told dispatchers he shot another man after being threatened at his residence on Mingo Mtn. Road. Once deputies arrived they found a 38-year-old man dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Deputies took 66-year-old Eric K. Olsen into custody without incident. The case is being investigated to determine if Olsen was acting in self defense. Witnesses told deputies that deceased man was acting irrationally prior to the shooting.

The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of family members.

Detectives from the Washington State Patrol are processing the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for early this week.

As soon as we get any additional information, we will update this story.
