Hot Shots Brings the Crowds, But Not Business to Farmers Market

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The farmer's market in downtown Yakima is a staple to weekends here in the city.

Sunday vendors said even though more people came through the area, they are not seeing a lot of regular business.

Vendors said most people just walk through to get to the tournament and don't buy much of anything.

The manager of the farmers market said parking is probably the main reason regulars are not heading down to the farmers market this weekend.

"Well as far as I've been around, parking is all occupied.  It's difficult because there is not enough parking with everything that's going on," said Yakima Farmer's Market Manager, Don Eastridge.

Vendors said the regulars that stopped by today came early to avoid the crowds.

They also said compared to years past, this year is better because the weather is cooler and more people know about the farmers market.

However, vendors we spoke with said because of road closures and difficulty getting down to the area, most people are avoiding the farmers market and waiting until next weekend to buy.
