KENNEWICK, Wash. - A young man is in the Benton County Jail after leading police in a car chase that ended in a crash.

Richland Police say the incident started in Richland Saturday night, when officers say 24-year-old Brandon Woodward stole a Jeep from the Discount Tire store on Gage Boulevard.

Kennewick Police say they saw the jeep drive into Kennewick moments after Woodward stole it, and tried to pull him over near Gage and Center Parkway. Officers say Woodward wouldn't stop, crashed into a sign at Grandridge and Montana Street and then ran off.

Police say they later found him hiding in the back yard of a home on the 1400 block of Montana.

Officers arrested and booked him for possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude a police vehicle, hit and run, reckless endangerment.
