Deputies Continuing to Search for Man Accused of Assault in Pendleton

PENDLETON, Ore. - The Umatilla County Sheriff's Office is continuing to look for a man accused of assaulting a woman along the Umatilla River Walkway on Aug. 9th.

Deputies say crews searched several miles along the Columbia River and the cliffs near Hat Rock State Park by foot, ATV, and boat for suspect Danny Wu. They began the search after the caretaker of McNary Yacht Club reported seeing a suspicious man in the area. Deputies didn't find anyone during their search.

A nationwide alert is now issued to help track down the 23-year-old transient. Investigators say they've run over 30 million facial recognition searches in the western states and have not found a match. They also believe the name Danny Wu is an alias.

Investigators also believe Wu also had something to do with the stabbing murder of 19-year-old Amy Jane Brandhagen in August of 2012. They say DNA from the August assault matched DNA found at the scene of Brandhagen's murder.

Pendleton police say Wu is a loner, who does not usually associate or talk with other people. Detectives say Wu frequently goes to public libraries, and tends to carry knives, screwdrivers and/or weapons. If you have any information about him, contact the Pendleton Police Department at (541) 276-4411.
