Suspect Kidnaps Man, Leads Police on Chase Through Pasco

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - A kidnapping in Franklin County early Wednesday morning led to a police chase in Pasco and now the suspect is in jail facing several charges.

Officers say a man left his job at Douglas Fruit in Franklin County around 3 a.m. when another man came up to him in the parking lot with a knife.

Investigators say Sergio Sanchez-Stuart, 19, ordered the victim to drive him to Pasco and then told him to get out of the car when they got to town. They say the victim then called 911 and officers found the car on Court Street.

That's when the police chase began and eventually ended near Sacajawea Park.

Sanchez-Stuart is now in custody in the Franklin County Jail.

"They need to survive so this particular incident, the victim chose to go along with it under the fear of being hurt," said Det. Lee Barrow with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Barrow says Sanchez-Stuart was a stranger to the victim. Sanchez-Stuart is charged with attempting to elude police, harassment with a death threat, driving with a suspended license, robbery, rape, and extortion. Investigators say he'll likely face kidnapping charges as well.
