PASCO, Wash. - Hundreds of people turned out Wednesday to hear Congressman Doc Hastings give an update on the state of congress.
The representative spoke at a Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce event at the Pasco Red Lion.
He touched on the economy saying if the government raises the debt ceiling again then spending should be cut by that same amount. Hastings says he's an opponent of Obamacare, but says republicans threatening a government shutdown if it's not repealed is inappropriate.
we can have the political show downs and there has to be cooler heads that prevail and I do not believe that shutting down the government, cutting off social security and not paying our military is a good way to go about that decision," said Rep. Doc Hastings, (R) 4th District.
Hastings also made it clear he supports the bill that would allow access up to Rattle Snake Mountain.
