Defending 1B champion Liberty Christian ready for new season

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. -- Our next high school football preview goes to the Liberty Christian Patriots. They are coming off a state championship at the 1B level, capped by a last-second game-winning touchdown. Major players to replace this year include Mike Olson, Jr, Tyler Morris and Timmy Koglin. But the Patriots focused on rebuilding key positions very early in the summer.

"Those things are already in place. You can kind of get down to the nuts and bolts of learning the game of football and getting the kids coached up at the spots, especially the new kids that are replacing your graduating seniors," Liberty Christian head coach Mike Olson, Sr. said.

"Obviously we lost a lot of seniors but we have already kind of grown together as a team through the process of state last year. With the incoming freshman it's a pretty easy transition, being a smaller school we already know each other. We're at a good start," Liberty Christian junior quarterback Taylor Lindquist added.
