A 36-year old Prineville man turned himself in to Oregon State Police (OSP) Wednesday after learning a warrant was issued for his arrest related to an investigation into a fatal traffic crash earlier this month on Highway 97 south of Madras.
GERALD GREEN, age 36, from Prineville, was arrested by OSP and lodged in the Jefferson County Jail for Criminal Negligent Homicide and Felony Fail to Perform the Duties of a Driver in an Accident Involving Injury or Death.
The ongoing investigation is being done in cooperation with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office. Questions should be directed Thursday to District Attorney Steven Leriche at (541) 475-4452.
On August 8, 2013 at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 1996 Cadillac four-door driven by GREEN was eastbound on SW Dover Lane when GREEN failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a northbound 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by DONALD W. HECKATHORN, age 64, from Madras.
HECKATHORN, a paramedic with Jefferson County EMS ambulance, was seriously injured and died August 14th at a Bend-area hospital where he was being treated.
GREEN was not injured.
OSP Senior Trooper Clint Prevett is the lead investigator.
