Man Shot by Kennewick Police Misses Court Again

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Prosecutors say a man shot by Kennewick police should be well enough to make it to court next month.

Police arrested Dennis Skellenger, 26, in June after a car chase that ended near Horse Heavens Hills Park.

Police say an officer shot Skellenger in the chest when he pointed a gun at officers.

Skellenger spent several days at a Seattle Hospital.

Skellenger Thursday morning missed a third scheduled court date. Benton County Assistant Prosecutor Terry Bloom says he's giving the man a couple more weeks to recover from his wounds before he's arraigned.

Skellenger is charged with eluding police after he allegedly tried to return merchandise with a stolen credit card.

An investigation concluded the officer who shot Skellenger followed procedure.
