Two Semi Crash Causes Brush Fire in Pasco

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol says a crash between two semi-trucks hauling corn backed up traffic near Highway 395 and Foster Wells Road Friday morning.

Troopers say the first semi was crossing the highway, causing the second semi to crash into it. Troopers say the second semi lost control, went off the roadway, caught fire and caused a small brush fire.

Neither of the drivers were hurt in the accident. Firefighters had the fire contained shortly after arriving on scene.

"From the initial investigation, it sounds like the driver misjudged the distance of the vehicle when he was crossing the highway." said Washington State Patrol Sergeant David DeVere. "He thought that he had more time than he actually did, and ended up getting struck by another vehicle on 395."

Troopers say they plan to cite the driver of the first semi for inattention.
