RICHLAND, Wash. - Staffers at Marcus Whitman Elementary are getting mummified to get kids excited about the school's book-fair.
Today, kids wrapped up the principal and counselor in toilet paper in a competition to kick-off the Egyptian themed read-a-thon. The librarians say they try to come up with fun and creative ways to get kids excited about reading.
"We want to motivate our kids, we want to motivate our kids and coming back and getting started each summer. We want to have our kids excited to learn and motivated to read, so it's a fun way to do that," said Marcus Whitman Elementary Principal Brian Moore.
Moore says if all the kids start the accelerated reading program, then he'll get mummified and stay in a sarcophagus in the library for an entire hour.
