Kerry: US Has Evidence Sarin Gas Was Used In Syria

WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of State John Kerry is asserting the United States now has evidence of sarin gas use in Syria and says the "case is building" for a military attack.

A day after President Barack Obama stepped back from his threat to launch an attack, Kerry says in a series of interviews on the Sunday news shows that the administration learned of the sarin use through samples of hair and blood provided to Washington by first responders in Damascus.
    
Kerry also says confident that Congress will give Obama its backing for a military strike against Syria. But the former senator also says the president has authority to act on his own if Congress doesn't give its approval.
    
Congress is scheduled to return from a summer break on Sept. 9.

Penelope Reed of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Dayton says a report was received at 12:31 p.m. Friday of a jet off the end of a runway and on its top. She says Wright-Patterson Air Force Base dispatched a crash team and heavy rescue crew.

"Under the care of my loving vet Dr. Ben Hart... I grew my angel wings and flew over the Rainbow Bridge.

    KENNEWICK, Wash. - Officials say Palouse Falls State Park in eastern Washington was temporarily closed during a fire that burned through wild lands north of the park. The Tri-City Herald reports that the fire started Wednesday and seemed to begin to die down until winds caused it to grow again. Franklin County Fire Districts and Adams County Fire District brought the fire under control Thursday.
