KENNEWICK, Wash.- Monday is Labor Day and down at Columbia Park there's a free event that the whole family can take in.
A committee that consists of members from the various Tri-Cities unions hosts the Labor Day picnic. They'll be out there making free burgers and hot dogs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to a car show, bike show and live music, there will be a jumping house for the kids. The laborers say they're giving the true meaning back to labor day.
"The holiday is for those of us in labor and all the people that help build this country and help make it what it is today," said Don Williams, the president of the picnic committee. "We are celebrating the people in labor from all walks of labor and this is just a great community event."
There will also be local fire trucks on display as well as a Lampson crane for visitors to check out.
