Pasco Man Arrested for Car Prowling in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A man from Pasco faces charges for car prowling after police say he tried to break into multiple cars. 

Kennewick Police say Sunday afternoon, 30-year-old Juan C. Hernandez-Rico tried to break into a car at a laundry mat on 4th Avenue. Officers say people tried to stop him, but he fought back and ran off into the Auto Zone across the street. 

Police say when they arrived, Hernandez-Rico escaped out the back door. Officers say they arrested him a few minutes later, trying to break into a different car on the 1300 block of 3rd.

Police booked him into the Benton County Jail for car prowling and trespassing. 

"Thanks to the efforts of alert citizens, this car prowler was arrested and will be held accountable for his actions," said Sergeant Ken Lattin of the Kennewick Police Department. "Keeping our city safe is a partnership with our citizens of this community."
