PASCO, Wash. - NBC Right Now now has more details on a bizarre case from Sunday. We now know Pasco police are calling this incident near 9th Avenue and B Street an in custody death
A release from Pasco police Monday states a 35-year-old man was believed to be involved in a fight between 15 to 20 people at the Golden Nugget Night Club. The man ran from the scene and was chased on foot by police. When he was detained near 9th Avenue police noticed the man stopped breathing. They tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.
NBC Right Now spoke with neighbors about what they witnessed.
"There were bullet casings that were on the floor that they were taking pictures of and everything and then they were just taking pictures and then just taping off a lot of the area. I wasn't even allowed to come to my house, because it was taped off. I had to go all the way around," said neighbor Mario Cortes.
Police say they didn't use a taser or any other weapon to arrest the man, who they believe is a Yakima resident.
The Tri-City Special Investigations Unit is handling the investigation and say they will not release any further information on this case until Tuesday.
