BEND, Ore. - A man from Pendleton will be arraigned on murder charges Tuesday afternoon in the death of an elderly woman near Sisters.
Deschutes County Sheriff Deputies say 30-year-old Joshua Leo Jokinen called them on Saturday evening to report he might have killed a woman.
Deputies say they found the body of 78-year-old Carolyn Burdick at her home near Cloverdale shortly afterward.
Sheriff Larry Blanton would not describe the cause of death or a motive, but he called the woman's death "a strange, senseless act."
Burdick had been an Arabian horse breeder and the owner of Masterpiece Arabians.
