PASCO, Wash.- Police continue to investigate the death of a Yakima man who stopped breathing while Pasco police were attempting to arrest him over the weekend.
The Franklin County coroner says Ismael Maria Acevedo was a 35-year-old man from Yakima. Police say Acevedo was involved in a fight outside the Golden Nugget Night Club and led police on a foot chase before he was caught. As officers tried to take him into custody, they realized Acevedo had stopped breathing. They tried to perform CPR, but were not successful. The initial autopsy performed did not indicate an exact cause of death. A toxicology report will offer more information in 6-8 weeks. Pasco police say the Tri-City Special Investigations Unit is handling the case and could have more details by the end of the week.
