Jury Selected, Hears Prosecutor's Case in Kennewick Murder Trial

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Prosecutors Friday morning will call the first witness to the stand in a Benton County murder trial.

Nine men and five women will consider whether Grant Scantling premeditated the shooting of his ex-fiancé's roommate.

Prosecutor Andy Miller told jurors Scantling drove from Spokane, broke into Ann Kreb's Kennewick home, and choked her.

"He choked her so hard that when detectives interviewed Ann Krebs later that morning they could see the red marks," Miller told jurors in his opening statement Thursday.

Miller says Scantling shot Franklin Palmer once, and then shot him twice more, as Palmer lay wounded.

Miller says scantling felt betrayed by Krebs and Palmer's romantic relationship.
