CONNELL, Wash. - A brand new cafe in Connell is sure to be a big hit with hydroplane racing fans in the Mid-Columbia.
The brand-new Racers Cafe is now open on Columbia Avenue in Connell.
Co-owners Corey and Mindy Moore have filled the restaurant with lots of hydroplane racing memorabilia, including Steve David's Oh Boy Oberto racing suit.
Corey says his favorite memento is a piece of boat debris from a flip on the Columbia back in 1992 that he had signed by the boat's driver.
"Mike Hansen was there in the pits, I could walk right over there and ask him to sign that and just see his face as he saw that old piece from flipping in the Tri-Cities was pretty priceless to see him see it for the first time since 1992," said Racers Cafe Co-Owner Corey Moore.
The Moores are planning a grand opening celebration during the Connell Fall Festival on September 14th and they're planning to have several hydroplanes there.
The cafe is open Wednesday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
