Yakima Man Jailed for Giving Fatal Drug Dose

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.--A Yakima man faced the judge Monday accused of giving a woman a fatal dose of meth.

According to court documents, 55-year-old Jeffery May told police that 22-year-old Danielle Dunn was a heroin user, but she was trying to kick the habit.

She asked may for some meth, and he told police he gave it to her. That's when she stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating.

Police said the use of meth is still a constant problem in the city.

Meth is still a significant problem that we see on the street, and that we are dealing with daily," said Captain Rod Light with the Yakima Police Department.

Police said they also found a small amount of meth on the suspect that day.

May faces charges of controlled substance homicide. His bail is set at  $250,000.
