Deputies Investigate Shooting in Irrigon

IRRIGON, Ore. - The Morrow County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that injured one man. 

Deputies say two people were arguing at in front of a home on the 200 block of First Street in Irrigon Monday night. Deputies say 67-year-old Venancio Carrillo, who lives at the home, got a handgun and went outside to investigate.  

Deputies say it appears Carrillo tried to chamber a round in the handgun, but it discharged into his leg. 

Initial reports were that a man had accidentally shot himself, however deputies say there were also indications that it may have been another person who fired the weapon.

Venancio was transported by Morrow County Ambulance to Good Shepherd Hospital.

Morrow Couty Sheriff's Office, Umatilla P.D., Oregon State Police and Boardman Police Department all responded to the scene.
