TOPPENISH, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol is investigating a crash in Toppenish that killed one teenager and badly injured another.

Troopers say 15-year-old Irving Tapia-Reyes of Toppenish had been driving when he ran a stop sign and crashed into another car at Fort Road and Becker Road.

Paramedics took Tapia-Reyes and his passenger, 13-year-old Jesus Manual Padilla of Toppenish, to Yakima Memorial Hospital.

Doctors pronounced Tapia-Reyes dead, but paramedics airlifted Padilla to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. No word yet on the boy's condition.

Troopers say the driver of the other car, 26-year-old Violet Strong of White Swan wasn't hurt, but the crash totaled her car.
