Morrow County Sheriff's Office: Man injured by unintentional gunshot during dispute

Man injured by unintentional gunshot during dispute

On 09/09/13 at 9:34 PM, Morrow County Sheriff Office received a report of a man that had been shot at 290 S First St in Irrigon. Initial reports were that a man had accidentally shot himself, however there were also indications that it may have been another person who fired the weapon.

 

After Law Enforcement arrived on scene, investigation and interviews with involved parties indicated that there had been a verbal altercation in front of the 290 S First St address between a member of that household and another man in a vehicleon the street in front of that residence. Venancio Carrillo, 67 of that same address obtained a handgun and was going outside to investigate. He attempted to chamber a round in the handgun and it discharged into his leg. Venancio was transported by Morrow County Ambulance to Good Shepherd Hospital.

 

MCSO, Umatilla P.D., Oregon State Police and Boardman Police Department all responded to the scene.

 

The Morrow County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating this case.
