Man injured by unintentional gunshot
Prepared by Undersheriff Steven L Myren, MCSO
On 09/09/13 at 9:34 PM,
Morrow County Sheriff Office received a report of a man that had been shot at
290 S First St in Irrigon. Initial reports were that a man had accidentally
shot himself, however there were also indications that it may have been another
person who fired the weapon.
After Law Enforcement arrived
on scene, investigation and interviews with involved parties indicated that
there had been a verbal altercation in front of the 290 S First St address
between a member of that household and another man in a vehicleon the street in
front of that residence. Venancio Carrillo, 67 of that same address obtained a
handgun and was going outside to investigate. He attempted to chamber a round
in the handgun and it discharged into his leg. Venancio was transported by
Morrow County Ambulance to Good Shepherd Hospital.
MCSO, Umatilla P.D., Oregon
State Police and Boardman Police Department all responded to the scene.
The Morrow County Sheriff's
Office is actively investigating this case.
