KENNEWICK, Wash. - Members of the Fraternal Order of Police Honor Guard continue to stand watch Wednesday evening at the 9/11 memorial near the Southridge Sports Complex.
They've been stationed at the memorial since 6:30 a.m. with a changing of the guard every half hour.
The Kennewick Fire Department hung a giant American flag on one of its trucks and several emergency vehicles are on also on display.
"This just seemed like the appropriate thing to do. I can remember when it happened. It was such a horrifying event and so many people died...it's good to remember," said Ron Walters, a visitor at the memorial.
Kennewick is one of a few cities in the country that received a piece of steel from the remains of the World Trade Center Towers.
