Kennewick School District Bus Involved in Hit and Run

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick Police are investigating after a school bus with 20 to 30 kids on-board was rear-ended by a car Thursday morning.

Police say it happened at 8:20 this morning at the corner of Yellowstone Avenue and Edison Street as the bus was turning right onto Edison.

Officers say a white man with dark hair driving a silver two-door car hit the back end of the bus and then drove away going westbound on Umatilla Avenue.  The make and model is unknown at this time.

No injuries were reported and the bus showed minimal damage.

"The Kennewick Police Department wants to ensure that everybody remembers that school is in session now, so it's important during the business hours and in the early morning hours to take your time going to work," says Officer Becca Jones.  "Be nice and slow, be cautious and always be cognizant when buses are in the area that they're probably going to be making multiple stops.  So just try to be cognizant of that when you're driving on the roadways."

Police say the car should show damage along the front.  If you have any information about the driver or the two-door vehicle call Kennewick Police.
